As a consultant to the World Water Assessment Program of UNESCO, Frederick Lorenz published the on-line report Protection of Water Facilities Under International Law (see 1st link below). He traveled regularly to Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan between 1997 and 2004 as a consultant to the US Department of Defense, researching water and security issues in the Euphrates-Tigris Basin. As a consultant to the Arab Water Academy in Abu Dhabi, he helped develop their first course in Water Diplomacy in 2008 and 2009. In 2020 he developed and presented a new course in Data, Science and Diplomacy at the UW, this became the inspiration for the mission of International Research Associates, LLC. His book “Strategic Water for Iraq” was published in 2014, the Expanded Second Edition was released in 2023 (see 2nd link below).
